Privacy Policy

Introduction

This policy explains how The Matezo ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your personal information when you visit thematezo.com or buy from us.

We follow UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are the "data controller" of the personal information described here. By using our website you confirm you have read this policy. Last updated: 31 October 2026.

What information we collect

We only collect the information we need to run our store and serve you. Depending on how you use our website, this may include:

. Contact details: your name, email address and phone number.

. Addresses: your delivery and billing addresses.

,Order information: the items you buy, order history, and any returns or refunds.

.Payment information: payments are handled by our payment providers. We do not store your full card number.

.Messages: anything you send us through the contact form, by email or on social media.

.Technical information: your IP address, device and browser type, and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and similar tools.

How we collect information

We collect personal information in three ways:

. From you directly: when you place an order, create an account, fill in our contact form, email us or message us on social media.

. Automatically: when you browse our website, through cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies and tracking tools" below).

. From service providers: for example, our payment provider confirms that a payment went through, and delivery partners confirm the status of a delivery.

How we store, use and share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We use it only for the following purposes:

.To fulfil your order (payment, delivery, returns and refunds), because we need it to carry out our contract with you.

. To provide customer support and reply to your messages.

. To meet legal obligations, such as tax and accounting records.

. To prevent fraud and keep our website secure, which is in our legitimate interests.

. To improve our website and send marketing, only where you have given consent or the law otherwise allows it.

Who we share it with. We share information only with service providers that help us run the store, and only what they need: our website and store platform (Wix), payment providers, delivery and fulfilment partners, and analytics providers if you accept analytics cookies. They may only use your information to provide their services to us. We may also share information if the law requires it.

International transfers. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on safeguards required by UK law, such as approved contractual clauses.

How long we keep it. We keep order and payment records for 6 years to meet tax and accounting rules. Other information, such as messages and marketing preferences, is kept only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, then deleted.

Security. We use secure checkout and reputable providers to protect your information. No online system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to keep your data safe.

How we communicate with you

We contact you by email about your orders, deliveries, returns and support requests. These service messages are part of your purchase, so you cannot opt out of them while an order is active.

We send marketing emails only if you have agreed to receive them, or if you are an existing customer and the message is about similar products, with a clear way to opt out. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us to stop at any time by writing to support@thematezo.com.

Cookies and tracking tools

Cookies are small files stored on your device when you visit a website. We use them in two ways:

. Essential cookies keep the website working, for example remembering your basket and keeping checkout secure. These do not need your consent.

. Analytics and marketing cookies help us understand how the site is used and measure our advertising. We set these only if you accept them in our cookie banner.

You can change or withdraw your cookie choices at any time through the cookie settings on our website. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site, such as the basket, may stop working.

Your rights and withdrawing consent

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

. ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;

. ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;

. ask us to delete your information, where the law allows;

. ask us to restrict how we use it, or object to certain uses;

. ask for your information in a portable format.

You can withdraw your consent at any time, for example to marketing emails or to analytics and marketing cookies. Use the unsubscribe link in any email, change your cookie settings on our website, or write to support@thematezo.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

We will reply to requests within one month. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example when we add a new service or the law changes. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. If we make a significant change, we will tell you on our website.
